Who is the G.O.A.T?
Why are people comparing a player who is still in the professional league with a retired sportsman?
Even if LJ wins twenty rings, the place MJ has in our minds and heart goes beyond the basketball court. The style of play of MJ was a thrill that propelled brands into motion. His jump and airness was a significant motivation for many people across the globe. As black as he is, he wasn't stereotyped by his race, everyone reckoned with his humanness, his capacity to fly, to motivate, to do the impossible, to inspire and entertain on the court and off the court with his smile, swag . . I could go on and on.
How many people remember the flu situation? Would you want to take LJ through that type of test?
And if LJ doesn't achieve the fit of winning many championships, he has become a legend in his own right. If he is allowed to continue playing the game for the love he has for the game more than about beating someone else's record, he should be fine.
However, records are to be beaten. Even MJ knows that. Some new players, hungry enough are probably warming up to take the game to new levels.
The pressure placed on LJ's shoulders to beat MJ's record is unnecessary.
LJ should be allowed to enjoy playing the game and focus on making his own mark. When he retires, then we would compare his game with the greatness of past players such as Shaq, Magic Johnson, Kobe and MJ.
For now the competition for greatness is between KD - Kevin Durant and LJ - LeBron James. These are the guys on ground. These are the news makers for now. These are the guys that are going to be competing in the next championship.
